Password management

Case Sensitivity

The username/email login used by the String system is case sensitive. The String system will only allow you to log in if the email address you enter is exactly the same as when your account was activated. If your String log in is something like user.name@yourwork.com then User.Name@yourwork.com or USER.NAME@YOURWORK.com will not be accepted.

Password Strength

The password chosen when you activate your String account, or when you change it at a later date, must be 8 or more characters long, contain at least one number and at least one capital letter. The password can also not be a dictionary word. Any password entered that does not meet this requirement will be rejected.

How do I change my password?

You can change your password easily once you're in String.

Login then click on the Account Settings icon in the top right hand corner of your account. On the profile tab, in the 'change password' section, enter your current password, then enter the password you want to change it to in the two boxes below. Click 'change password' and your new password will be valid next time you enter your details on the login page.

What do I do if I forget my password?

If you forget your password please submit a request on this site with details of your account name and user ID  (email address use to log in). We will verify that the account is yours, reset your password and send you the new one which you can change to suit yourself.

What if my account is blocked?

If you repeatedly attempt to log into your account with the wrong password, your account will be blocked from further attempts. This is a security measure to prevent unauthorised access to your String account.

You will receive an error message if your account becomes blocked and you will need to raise a support ticket to resolve this.

What happens if someone knows my password?

If you think someone else knows your password, you must change it immediately as they can log into your account if they also know your email address. You can change your password at any time by logging on to the service, and clicking on the Account Settings icon in the top right of your screen. Click on the 'profile' tab and enter a new password in the boxes provided.
